Coronavirus Case and Fatality Rate in India, Coronavirus Third Wave August 17 Highlights: India has beaten its own best performance of June 21st to create a new world record in terms of the highest vaccination done in a single day. The health ministry data released this morning says that India vaccinated 88.13 lakh people in the last 24 hours. This makes August 16 numbers the highest ever that India has seen since the mass vaccination against the coronavirus began on January 16 this year. With this world record, India’s cumulative vaccine coverage has reached 55.47 crore doses.
There is another good news in terms of daily caseload. India on Tuesday reported 25,166 fresh Covid-19 infections. This is the lowest number of new cases in a single day in the last 154 days, the government data says. The number of active cases has also gone down to 3,69,846. This is the lowest number of active cases in the last 146 days. The recovery rate has surged to 97.51 per cent, the highest that India has ever seen. The number of daily recoveries was more than the new cases showing some relief in the transmission rate of the virus. However, the Covid deaths saw a marginal increase to 437 today.
